Experimenting is fun. So when I had the opportunity to try something new, I was pretty excited about it. This photo was taken with a lens I had never used before but was really curious about it. It was the Lensbaby. It took some time to learn how to use it because it took some trial and error to adjust the lens and it’s manual focus only. With this lens, I was able to blur everything except the king and queen chess pieces. Pretty neat effect!

This photo was taken a while ago when I was hiking in a forest. Hiking is not one of my favorite activities but I was trying to be more open minded at the time. I’m definitely not the active sportsy type of person; so naturally hiking is not something I would enjoy but this forest had a lot of great things to see. While walking on the trail, I saw – what I thought was a floating leaf – was in reality a whimsically dangling leaf. It was really fascinating how the spider threads held it in place. The threads were incredibly long and I couldn’t find where they started but I thought this was a great sight of nature.
